Description

Description

In this session, Speech and Language Therapist Aseel Al Naser gives caregivers a clear and practical understanding of what speech and language therapy works on, and why speech does not begin with words alone. It begins with foundational skills such as joint attention, imitation, play, gestures, interaction, and language comprehension.

The session focuses on some of the most common challenges children face today, including delays in pre-language skills, expressive language delay, limited interaction, communication difficulties linked to limited experience and interaction, the impact of screen exposure, delayed play skills, speech clarity difficulties, stuttering, and some feeding and swallowing-related concerns.

This course helps caregivers understand the bigger picture: how communication develops, how play affects language, why communication must come before speech, and how everyday routines such as eating, dressing, playing, and daily activities can become meaningful opportunities to support a child’s language and interaction.

The session also includes practical strategies caregivers can use at home, such as imitation and expansion, play and wait, the ROCK strategy, the Four S strategy, using bubbles and interactive games, building turn-taking, moving from sensory play to functional and pretend play, and helping the child move from sounds to words and then to sentences.

What You’ll Learn

  •  The difference between communication, language, speech, articulation, and fluency
