In this session, Dr. Ahmed Sbeata, Dr. Al-Moataz Billah Abdul Ghani, Occupational Therapist Dana Mahmoud, and Speech and Language Therapist Aseel Al Naser come together for an open expert discussion focused on the questions caregivers often face after beginning the journey of assessment, therapy, and intervention.
The session is built around two main themes. The first focuses on autism spectrum disorder and ADHD: how they differ, where symptoms may overlap, whether the two can appear together, and when a child may need a broader evaluation that looks at more than one area of development and behavior. The discussion also covers what caregivers can do when a child has both autism and ADHD-related challenges.
The second theme focuses on epilepsy, EEG testing, seizure-like events, brain imaging, and medication-related questions. The session helps caregivers better understand common concerns such as: what happens if a child has a first seizure? Should treatment begin if the EEG shows abnormal activity but the child has not had a seizure? When can stopping medication be discussed? And why might a doctor request an EEG or MRI if epilepsy is mainly diagnosed clinically?
This is not a traditional lecture. It is a guided expert conversation designed to help caregivers understand the medical, behavioral, and therapeutic picture more clearly, while also addressing caregiver questions within the limits of general guidance.
This course is suitable for caregivers whose child has, or is suspected to have, autism, ADHD, epilepsy, seizure-like episodes, or abnormal EEG findings, as well as caregivers who have questions about medication, genetic testing, or overlapping symptoms between different conditions.
